Best-selling novelist Thrity Umrigar will discuss her newest novel, The Secrets Between Us, at the Kent Free Library on Wednesday, January 16, at 7 p.m.
Born in Bombay, India, Umrigar came to the U.S. at age 21. She was a voracious reader who also created her own fictional and poetic worlds. She attended business school and then earned an M.A. in journalism and worked for several years as an award-winning reporter, columnist, and magazine writer.
After earning a Ph.D. in English, she won a one-year Nieman Fellowship to Harvard University, where she wrote her first novel, Bombay Time. She is now the Armington Professor of English at Case Western Reserve University.
Umrigar has published 10 books and is active on the national lecture circuit.
Copies of several of her books will be for sale at the presentation through the Library’s Foundation and Umrigar will be available to sign books.
