Spring Bowman Breakfast- American Legion Banquet Hall
In 1963, President Emeritus George A. Bowman and his wife Edith Duncan were honored by the creation of a lecture series. Dr. Bowman served as University president for nineteen years, before retiring in 1962. His suggestion of a lecture series provided a forum for sharing ideas with the University and the community—building town gown relationships which now extends to the larger regional society.
Mickey Dover, a Kent alumni and former public relations executive for Chrysler Motors, recommended that these lectures be named for Dr. Bowman because "of the tremendous influence he has had in improving government relations."
The Breakfast generally draws over 300 of the region’s top community leaders at each of the bi-annual presentations. Kent State University and the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce co-sponsor the Bowman Breakfast Lecture Series.
